Default DBSA/AMSA Ride Day at McMahan Ranch Mar 16-17 2019

The club will co-sponsor a Ride Day at McMahan Ranch near Smithville with the AMSA on Saturday, March 16 & 17, 2019. All DBSA members in good standing for 2019 can ride for free.

Guest riders will be allowed following the regular DBSA guest rider policies at Zars ($20 guest rider fee, member sponsored, sponsoring member is responsible for the guest rider, etc...). Non-members who are not sponsored will not be allowed to ride.

Primitive camping will be available Saturday night.

    Stay tuned for more details.

Don or JR if you happen to see this do you plan or riding at this event. I can make it on Sunday. Pending the weather is not 32 degrees like today. Let me know

    Thanks

    Hiya Rolf,

    Yep should be there Sunday.

Like we did for Hidden Falls: is there a place near McMahan's to meet and/or get breakfast or something before we ride?

Edit: I didn't see on the flyer what time we can enter the ranch.

Don I am not sure about eating establishments near there, I am just hoping I can find it. I saw on the Texas off road forum, I believe a guy said 8am to 4pm both days. I hope to be there by 8 or 8:30.

Gotta admit I'm now debating on going...we'll see.

If I go I'll just pack a lunch.

Guy on KTMTalk said there's a 17 mile loop that's available to ride.

Here's the address: 290 Old Lake Road Smithville, TX 78957

Typed that into google maps and this is how I'll go:

I10 East to exit 649...97 North toward Waelder. 97 North turns into 1115 North past Waelder.

1115 North merges with 95 North just before Cistern.

Take 95 North to 316 and turn east/right.

Take 316 East to 321 and turn north/left. 321 is also known as Old Lake Road.

McMahan's place should be on the left.

If you see road 230 you missed it. Turn around.

JR, Dave, Thanks for riding at McMahan Ranch. Had a great time, on the 17 Mile hard loop those roots and ruts definitely wear you out, I am still feeling it today at work. JR thanks for helping me out of that tough spot, I swear that said easy way. Hope to see you all at Zars sometime.

It was interesting. I hadn't ridden anything that tough and technical in some time. Surprisingly, I felt better than I thought I would the day after. Don made a good choice not to come, I don't think he would have appreciated it the way the rest of us masochists did. ;-) Good group ride.
